Wynberg Swimming Pool reopening date

31 December 2024

The City of Cape Town would like to provide Ward 63 residents with an update regarding Wynberg Swimming Pool, which has undergone essential maintenance to ensure its safe and efficient operation.

The pool was initially scheduled to reopen today, 31 December.

However, due to unforeseen delays, filling the pool will take approximately three days. Following this, cleaning, testing and commissioning of the pool and its pipes will be carried out to ensure the highest standards of water quality.

Tile work for the main pool and kiddies pool was completed yesterday and the filling of the pools has since begun.

Should everything proceed as planned, the pool is anticipated to reopen on Saturday, 4 January 2025.

‘The safety and quality of the swimming environment are our top priorities and we are working hard to complete all necessary steps so that the pool can reopen as soon as possible. Our goal is to ensure that patrons have an enjoyable recreational experience. When the facility reopens, we remind all patrons that it is vital to adhere to lifeguards' instructions for a safe swimming experience for everyone,’ said Mayoral Committee Member for Community Services and Health, Councillor Patricia Van der Ross.

‘We know the pool is an important part of the community and we apologise for the delays. We appreciate your patience as we work towards reopening,’ said Councillor Carmen Siebritz, local ward councillor for Ward 63.

The City will continue to provide updates through its website and thanks residents for their understanding and cooperation.
